I'm no big fan of Nancy Pelosi, and one could argue that it was politically motivated, but I'm glad she did what she did. It's a pity that Jefferson refused. Even if Jefferson escapes arrest/trial/conviction/prison, he doesn't seem to have much of a future in the Democratic party.
Pelosi did what she had to do to protect the party; it was her job. Jefferson's innocent until proven guilty, of course. But the evidence seems pretty solid.
She had to, especially given the Hannity election mantra "You don't want to say 'Speaker Pelosi', do you?"
